Does anyone have any knowledge of the fuselage markings that 40 squadron had on their planes especially on the Wellingtons around 1944?

I seem to have a mental picture from somewhere of no squadron codes "BL" only the aircraft code.

Also did they carry the squadron crest?

I'll ask around, see if anyone remembers.

Check out Chaz Bowyer's Wellington at War. I glanced thru and found a couple of 40 Sqdrn pics - code "BL" and the aircraft serial just before the elevators - as generally seemed to be the norm. Can't see any other marking unique to 40 sqdrn tho' - no signs of a crest.
