Liberator Pics if possible
First this is a great forum.
What I would like to see are any pics of Libs my father flew between July 1942 and December 1943 in the Middle East. He started in 160 squadron then 178 and on to "Special Liberator Flight" dropping spies into Yugoslavia.
Photo's I would like to see are of any of the following AL 506,510,517,518,524,525,526,538,540,547,551,555,57 9,581,582,585,599,609,616,630,638.
Its a bit of a long shot but what I have seen of this forum is If they are out there someone will have them!

Of the Libs on your list, these ones are in the book "The Liberator in Royal Air Force and Commonwealth Service” by James D. Oughton (page number given where photo/artwork is printed):
85 G-AHZP (former AL510), Scottish Aviation.
89 QUANTAS VH-EAJ (former AL524)
101 AL525 B with 1675 HCU.
148 AL525 P, 178 Sqn (color side profile artwork)
104 AL547, Scottish Aviation
88 G-AGKU (former AL547) at Sydney, QANTAS
88 G-AGKU (former AL547) at Perth, QANTAS
108 AL579, 159 Sqn
108 AL581 M, 1653 CU (later with 159 Sqn)
109 AL582 crash, 178 Sqn
The pg 108 photo of AL581 is a cropped version of the original, which is held by the Imperial War Museum. A b&w print can be ordered from them.
Do you have access to the Oughton book? If not, I can help you with scans, eventually...when I can find some time. I sent you a private message regarding your father's logbook, a digital copy of which I have. I can't for the life of me recall who gave it to me. Let me know if you can't access this personal message. Contact me at feb2944 AT aol.com (making the obvious changes).

Thanks for the kind words about the site, to be honest it's all being held together with string and cellotape at the moment. I've had to ban all users from Russia, China, Nigeria and a couple of other countries just to keep it online. Hosting sites that have interaction with it's users is getting harder and harder thanks to vandels and idiots.
Anyway back to the subject, I do have lots more photos to add but I can't add them yet as the site is a bit unstable. I'm in the process of rebuilding using a newer version of this software, it's a long process that I have to fit in with the other life
Fingers crossed it should be online in the next month or two, I'm off to renable new user registrations (that should be fun, like opening the doors to screaming kids with guns and grenades).
